Rik Finally: an album by my good friend Lukas De Clerck! What you hear is an introduction to way more to come. An introduction to the both adventurous and persistent road he has been paving for himself. A duality that is heard in the music as well. Staggering from monotonous ambient to experimental shots of power. Bravo, Lukas! Favorite track: Le Séchage.

about

Le Gardon is a prudent first step in trying to create a new context for the aulos to sound again. After being silenced for more than a millennium,
Le Gardon is a personal, modest and, for now, almost respectful reconnaissance of the instrument.

Recorded on an ordinary summer afternoon in Brussels as a series of multiple improvisations, it should be interpreted as an introduction, a sketch, a first handshake, a toe in the water.

An engagement, a promise.
And a thank you as well.

Le Gardon is the river that flows through the village where Max Brumberg, who builds Auloi, lives. If this should mean anything, it's mainly a sonification of gratitude for his hospitality, kindness and eagerness to share everything he knows about the instrument.

The reeds are a combination of reeds made by Max and myself, thanks to an almost overwhelming eagerness of Max to share his knowledge about reed making.
For this reason, I'd like to thank Callum Armstrong as well.

A special thanks to my dear friends Dries Peeters for the artwork en Omar Hobo for the Bl&Sn Logo en Amber Meulenijzer for her endless support and patience. X
